...and The Good News Is Preached to the Poor

At World Impact we are committed to ministry to the inner city.  We understand the grace of God, and we are called to the urban poor.  Half of the children in west Oakland don't graduate high school.  Three-quarters of the black men in west Oakland have been in prison.  Over half of the women in west Oakland have had an abortion!  Although it may not be among the world's poorest places, it can be a spiritual desert.  

Our goal and mission at World Impact is to preach the good news to the poor.  We believe that the only way to change the inner city is to change the people in it.  No amount of government programs or jobs will effectively better the community.  Only by changing the outlook of the people by giving them hope and empowering them to act upon that will we be able to start to change America's inner cities.

In west Oakland our ministry approach is simple.  We get to know people through our Saturday Morning Breakfast, our sidewalk cafe at the Lord Provides Resource Center, and through our Kid's Clubs.  We empower them physically by providing assistance to them at The Lord Provides, and spiritually by teaching them at our church and at TUMI, The Urban Ministry Institute.  From there, we hope that we can raise up leaders who will be able to lead and pastor a local church.
