Santa in the 'Hood

Christmas is a time of celebration and fun.  For months leading up to Christmas we are bombarded with advertisements and reminders of hot chocolate by the fire.  For many of us, we hold our fondest memories around the Christmas season.  Unfortunately, that isn't the case for too many inner city youth.  Broken families and lack of money often means an uneventful Christmas for many children in west Oakland.  The advertisements they see on television seem to be made for other people.

That's why we have participated in the Adopt-A-Family program for many years here at World Impact Oakland.  Each year we connect hundreds of families with means to many without here in the Lower Bottoms.  Families all around the Bay Area get to share the Christmas joy with those in our neighborhood for a day as we pass out gifts with hot chocolate and cookies.  A group from CSU-Bakersfield even joins us for the experience every year!
