Our Mission

To serve the people of west Oakland by equipping and empowering them through the power of Jesus and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
Luke Prince

Luke grew up in Colorado and has been living and serving in west Oakland for five years.  After studying history at North Park University, he came to the Lower Bottoms through an organization called Mission Year.  It was through Mission Year that he connected and volunteered with World Impact.  The following year he joined staff and has been working for the ministry ever since.

Luke has a passion for the down and brokenhearted.  During his senior year of high school Luke quit his track team to go downtown Colorado Springs and hang out with the homeless that he had become friends with.  That passion led him to study for a year at Covenant Bible College in La Merced, Ecuador, and later in the inner city of Chicago with North Park University.  He also loves the outdoors and is always willing to get out for a week or even a just a weekend to take people camping.  He loves to find God in creation and desires to share that with others.

During the week, Luke spends his most of his ministry time at the Lord Provides Resource Center helping people get their lives back on their feet through practical employment and career counseling.  He is also very involved with the church plant, sharing teaching time with two other leaders from World Impact in San Francisco.  During the week he also mentor's and teaches recovering addicts at City Team Ministries in downtown Oakland.

Luke recently married the love of his life, Ginny, and the two of them can be found often hiking some of the great trails in the east bay, or finding some great food out of Taco Trucks in Fruitvale.   Who can believe such good food can come from a truck!?  He is also working on solidifying his Spanish skills in a better effort to serve the Latino population of west Oakland.
